1. What Personal Information We Collect and How We Collect It
At ZeroPretend, we’re all about transparency — so here’s exactly what we collect, and how we get it.
1.1 Information You Provide DirectlyWhen you sign up for ZeroPretend or interact with the platform, you may give us information such as:
Your name, email address, date of birth, and gender identity.
Photos, bios, and personal details you choose to share in your profile — including, but not limited to, your quirks, habits, likes, dislikes, and dealbreakers.
Responses to quizzes, prompts, and profile-building forms.
Messages sent to other users.
Content submitted via feedback forms, customer support, or surveys.
We collect this to help power honest, real connection — and to keep your account secure.
1.2 Information We Collect AutomaticallyWhen you use ZeroPretend, we may automatically gather:
Device information (IP address, browser type, operating system).
Usage data (pages viewed, time spent, actions taken).
Location data (based on IP or device settings, if allowed).
Log and diagnostic information for bug tracking and performance optimization.
This helps us improve your experience and understand how people use our platform — nothing shady.
1.3 Information from Other SourcesWe may occasionally get information from:
Partners or third-party platforms (if you choose to link an account, e.g., sign in with Google).
Publicly available sources or social platforms if you interact with us elsewhere.
We do not buy your data or harvest it from dark corners of the internet. That’s not our style.
2. How We Use Your Information
We don’t collect your info just to let it sit there like forgotten leftovers in the back of the fridge. Here’s how and why we use it:
2.1 To Provide the PlatformWe use your information to:
Set up and manage your account.
Match you with potential partners based on your profile and responses.
Power the platform’s features — including search, messaging, matching logic, and account preferences.
Help you connect with people who actually get you (warts, quirks, weird toothpaste habits and all).
2.2 To Improve ZeroPretendWe analyze how people use the site to:
Fix bugs, improve speed, and streamline the user experience.
Test new features and optimize design.
Make sure our platform continues to run smoother than your last breakup.
2.3 For Safety and Legal ObligationsMonitor, detect, and prevent fraud or suspicious behavior.
Enforce our Terms of Service and community standards.
Comply with legal requirements, court orders, or law enforcement requests — when applicable.
We take user safety seriously. That includes handling data properly when necessary for safety, moderation, and compliance.
2.4 For CommunicationWe may use your information to:
Send you updates, announcements, or important account info.
Deliver customer support responses.
Occasionally share newsletters or feature updates (you can opt out).
Don’t worry — we’ll never sell your data, and we’re not interested in spamming your inbox.
2.5 With ConsentIf we ever want to use your data in a new way — for example, showcasing user stories or testimonials — we’ll ask you first. No tricks, no sneaky checkboxes.
3. How We Share Your InformationLet’s be real — your information is yours. We’re just borrowing what we need to make the platform work. Here’s when (and only when) your information leaves our hands:
3.1 With Other Users — Because That’s the PointWhen you create a profile, some information becomes public to other users, including:
Your first name or display name
Your responses to profile prompts, quiz answers (where applicable), and quirks
Profile photos
General location (city-level only)
Any content you choose to share publicly on your profile
👉 Important: Private info like your email, full name, IP, and account security data is never shared with other users.
3.2 With Service ProvidersWe may share limited data with trusted service providers who help us run things — think email delivery services, analytics tools, and hosting providers.
Examples include:
Email and marketing platforms (e.g., Brevo)
Web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)
Cloud hosting and database providers
These companies are under contract and only get the data they need to do their job — and nothing else. No data fiestas.
3.3 When Required by LawIf we get a legit legal request (like a subpoena, court order, or law enforcement inquiry), we may disclose data in compliance with applicable laws.
We’ll only do this when:
Legally obligated, or
We believe in good faith that it’s necessary to protect user safety, prevent harm, or defend our legal rights.
3.4 In Case of Business ChangesIf ZeroPretend ever merges, sells, or transfers part of its business, your data may come along for the ride. But any such move will follow strict confidentiality and privacy rules, and we’ll notify you if anything big changes.
3.5 With Your ConsentWe’ll never share your info in new ways unless we clearly tell you and get your okay. No hidden surprises.
4. Your Rights and ChoicesAt ZeroPretend, you’re not just a data point — you’re a real person with real rights (and probably some weird sleep habits). Here’s how you stay in control of your information:
4.1 Access and Update Your InfoYou can log into your account anytime to:
View or update your profile
Edit responses to prompts or questions
Change your email address, password, and other account settings
If something’s outdated or just doesn’t feel like “you” anymore — change it. You’re allowed to evolve. Weirdness included.
4.2 Delete Your AccountYou can delete your account at any time from your profile settings.
⚠️ Important Note:When you delete your account:
Your public profile is removed from the site.
Your messages and connections may no longer be accessible.
Some data (e.g., logs, safety reports) may be retained temporarily for legal or security reasons, in accordance with applicable law.
Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Poof. No backups, no resurrection spell.
4.3 Opting Out of CommunicationsYou can unsubscribe from marketing emails or newsletters anytime by clicking the unsubscribe link in the email footer.
We don’t spam. If we send you something, it’s either important or useful — but never both. 😎
4.4 Data Portability (Fancy Term, Real Right)If you ever want a copy of your data (because you’re moving on, or just curious), you can request it by emailing us at [[email protected]]. We’ll send it over in a reasonably readable format, as required by law.
4.5 Privacy Rights (Depending on Where You Live)Depending on your location (like California or the EU), you may have additional legal rights related to privacy and data protection.
We honor all applicable laws. If you’re not sure what applies to you, reach out — we’re happy to clarify.
5. Data Retention & SecurityWe get it — data is serious business. We treat yours with care, whether it’s your email, your profile photo, or your response to “Do you fart around your partner?”
5.1 How Long We Keep Your InfoWe only keep your personal data for as long as we reasonably need it to:
Provide the service
Comply with legal obligations
Prevent fraud and abuse
Resolve disputes
Enforce our agreements
Here’s what that looks like:
Active Accounts: We keep your data for as long as your account is live.
Deleted Accounts: Basic user data may be retained temporarily (for things like legal audits, fraud prevention, or abuse reports), but your public profile and user-facing info are erased.
We don’t hoard data. Once it’s no longer needed, we delete it securely.
5.2 How We Protect Your InfoWe use industry-standard security measures to safeguard your data, including:
SSL encryption (for data in transit)
Secure cloud storage and firewall protections
Access controls (so only authorized staff can view sensitive data)
But let’s be totally transparent:📢 No system is 100% hack-proof.While we do everything we can to protect your info, we can’t guarantee complete security — and anyone who does is probably lying.
5.3 Breach NotificationIn the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal info, we will:
Notify you as required by law
Explain what happened
Outline what we’re doing to fix it
We hope it never happens — but if it does, we won’t ghost you. That’s not how we roll.
6. Cookies and Tracking TechnologiesYep, we use cookies. No, not the chocolate chip kind (sorry). We’re talking about the tiny bits of code that help make the website work properly and learn how people use it — so we can make it better.
6.1 What Are Cookies?Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help us:
Remember who you are when you log in
Keep you logged in as you browse
Understand how you use the site
Improve performance and content
They’re harmless. They’re not spyware. And they’re surprisingly useful.
6.2 Types of Cookies We UseType PurposeEssential Cookies > Help the site function (login, navigation, security)Analytics Cookies > Show us how users behave (what’s working, what’s not)Performance Cookies > Help speed things up or fix bugsMarketing Cookies (if enabled) > May be used for retargeting ads or showing content based on interests — only if you consentWe try to keep our cookie jar minimal — no unnecessary tracking.
6.3 Third-Party ToolsWe may use trusted third-party tools (like Google Analytics) that also set cookies or collect data.
These services are used to:
Understand website traffic
Analyze trends
Improve our features
They’re not allowed to sell your data or use it for anything shady.
6.4 Your Cookie ChoicesYou can control or delete cookies from your browser settings at any time. You can also:
Set your browser to block cookies entirely (but it might break stuff)
Use our cookie banner to manage your preferences (if enabled)
6.5 Do Not Track (DNT)Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. We currently don’t respond to DNT signals because there’s no consistent industry standard — but we’ll keep an eye on that space.
7. Online Safety & User ConductWe built ZeroPretend to be a space for raw, honest connection — but keeping it safe and respectful takes everyone’s effort, not just ours.
7.1 General ExpectationsBy using the platform, you agree to:
Be honest — fake profiles, stolen photos, and lies aren’t just lame, they’re bannable.
Treat other users with basic human decency. (No harassment, threats, hate speech, or manipulation.)
Not use the platform for anything illegal, abusive, or predatory.
Report unsafe or suspicious behavior when you see it — help us keep this place real and respectful.
If you wouldn’t say it to someone’s face in a coffee shop, don’t say it here either.
7.2 Online Dating Safety TipsWe encourage all users to stay safe when interacting with others, both online and offline. Here are a few essentials:
Don’t share sensitive info (like your home address, full name, financial details) with people you just met online.
Meet in public places for first (or second, or third) dates.
Tell a friend where you’re going and who you’re meeting.
Trust your gut. If something feels off, it probably is. Block and report when needed.
We’ll provide you with reporting tools, block buttons, and a responsive support team — but remember, you are the best line of defense.
7.3 No Liability for Off-Platform BehaviorWe don’t perform background checks. We don’t vet every user. And we can’t control what people do outside of this platform.
By using ZeroPretend, you agree that:
We are not responsible for the actions, behaviors, stupidity, recklessness, or any real-world consequences resulting from user interactions — on or off the platform.
We do our best to encourage safety and honesty, but we are not babysitters, bodyguards, or therapists. Please use your brain, your heart, and your boundaries.
7.4 Reporting ToolsIf someone violates our rules or makes you feel unsafe:
Block them immediately.
Report the user using the in-app/report function.
Contact us at [[email protected]] if you need further support.
We take safety seriously and investigate all violations of our terms.
8. Children’s Privacy & Age RestrictionsLet’s make this simple:
🚫 This platform is for adults. Period.
ZeroPretend is intended only for users aged 18 and up. We do not knowingly collect or store personal data from anyone under the age of 18. If we find out a minor is using the platform, we will remove the account and delete any associated data as required by law.
8.1 No, Your Teen Isn’t an ExceptionWe know — your kid is “mature for their age.” They still don’t belong here.
Please don’t let your child use your account, register under a fake birthdate, or lurk on the platform. This isn’t Instagram. It’s a dating platform for messy, emotionally complicated adults.
8.2 And To Be Extra Clear:We know children are less weird than adults, so don’t be that turd who allows your underage child to register for a platform that was explicitly not designed for them.We are not responsible for your failure to parent, supervise, or read the giant “18+ ONLY” warning you agreed to when you signed up.
We take children’s privacy very seriously, but we also take parental accountability seriously. If we detect underage use, we shut it down fast. You’ve been warned.
9. International Users & Cross-Border Data TransfersWe’re based in the United States, but ZeroPretend might be accessed from all over the world — because emotional chaos knows no borders.
9.1 Where Your Data GoesIf you’re accessing ZeroPretend from outside the U.S., be aware that:
Your information may be stored, processed, and transferred to servers in the United States or other countries that may not have the same data protection laws as where you live.
By using our platform, you consent to the transfer of your personal data to the U.S. (and anywhere else we or our service providers operate).
9.2 GDPR (for our EU/EEA Friends)If you live in the European Union, we respect your data rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including:
Right to access your data
Right to correct inaccuracies
Right to request deletion
Right to object to processing
Right to data portability
Right to lodge a complaint with your local data authority
We only collect and process your data when we have a legal basis to do so — for example:
With your consent
To fulfill our service agreement with you
To comply with legal obligations
Need help exercising those rights? Just email us at [[email protected]]. We got you.
9.3 We Keep It LegitWe follow applicable privacy laws in all the regions where we operate. If the rules change, so do we. We’ll update this policy to stay in compliance.
10. Changes to This Privacy PolicyWe may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — because laws evolve, the platform grows, and honestly, we just keep getting better.
When we make changes, we’ll:
Update the “Last Updated” date at the top of the page
Post the revised version right here for all to see
Notify you if the changes are major, especially if they affect your rights
We recommend checking in occasionally so you’re not surprised. We won’t sneak anything past you — that’s not how ZeroPretend works.
If you continue using the platform after changes go into effect, it means you’re cool with the updates.
Questions? Concerns? Just Feeling Weird?Email us at 📬 [[email protected]]We actually read those. And no, there’s no chatbot — just real humans with real quirks.
